Weight Sensing System (or WSS) is a system installed in the passenger seat of Mercedes-Benz that detects a passenger or child seat on the front passenger seat. Mercedes-Benz introduced first version of the Weight Sensing System in 2005 because of new regulations that have been approved in North America. They installed it only in cars sold in the USA (and sometimes in Canada). Around 2010 Mercedes introduced a new version of the Weight Sensing System. For a few years the new version was installed only in the USA (and Canada) but around 2014 the new WSS was installed in European models and in later years also in cars sold in other continents. In this article we will show you how to find the part number of the Weight Sensing System used since 2010.

Finding the part number is easy. Take a look under the passenger seat and find a little black box with a white label. The part number is written on the label. Check the photos below and our YouTube video for more guidance.
